How to make Luqaimat ( Arabic Sweet Dumplings )
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 cardamom / 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 tsp saffron
- 1 cup warm water
- Pinch salt
- Oil for deep fry
- 4 tbsp honey/date syrup
- 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
Method of preparation
- Take a bowl add yeast, sugar, warm water mix well and keep aside for 10 min.
- Take another bowl add cardamom, saffron, warm water mix well and kept aside.
- Sieve all purpose flour and salt together and add saffron and yeast mixture.
- Now start to mix it well with a spatula or you can use your hands and mix well. Note that there shouldn't be lumps in the batter.
- The consistency of the batter should just like a cake batter not too watery or too hard.
- Now cover it with clip wrap and keep aside for raising. It will take 40 to 50 min.
- Now you can see the batter is fermented.
- Heat oil for deep and once the oil gets heat using a spoon take a small portion of batter and gently drop it in oil.
- Now using a spatula gently turn the dumpling so that all sides cook well.
- Once it turns into a golden brown colour remove it from oil and drain the excess oil.
- Now pour the honey or date syrup on top of the fried dumplings and garnish with white sesame seeds.
