Crab Soup | Nandu Rasam Recipe

Today I am going to show you how to make spicy and healthy Crab Soup or Nandu Rasam. Let's see how to make it.

How to make Crab Soup Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of crab
  • 1 teaspoon peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 2 dried Red Chillies
  • 5 shallots
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 lemon sized tamarind
  • 1/2 tablespoon asafoetida
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Few curry leaves
  • Few chopped  coriander leaves
  • Salt as required
  • Water as required
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

To grind

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp peppercorns 
  • 5 garlic pods
  • Few curry leaves

Method of preparation

  • Take a blender to add curry leaves, garlic pods, peppercorns, cumin seeds and make a fine powder.

  • Now heat a pressure cooker and add oil, fennel seeds, peppercorns, red chillies and curry leaves. Saute it for a min.
  • Now add chopped shallots and cook until translucent. 
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.
  • Now add freshly grounded Masala, turmeric powder, coriander powder and saute it until raw smell goes.
  • Now add crab, tamarind juice, water as required,  salt as needed and close the lid. Let it cook for 1 whistle.



  • Once the pressure released now add asafoetida and chopped coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
