Chicken Tikka Biryani Recipe | Spicy Chicken Tikka Biryani Recipe

Hello foodies, 
Today I am going to share with you another biryani recipe which is Chicken Tikka Biryani Recipe. This recipe is made with grilled chicken tikka and biryani spices and we will keep them in Dum for 20 minutes. Let's see how to make it.

How to make Chicken Tikka Biryani Recipe

Ingredients

For Chicken Tikka

  • 500 gm boneless chicken pieces
  • 1 cups yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp tikka masala sauce
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • salt as needed

For Curry

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • ½ cup  yogurt
  • ⅓ cup of water

For Rice

  • 2 cup basmati rice ( soaked for 30 minutes in water)
  • 3 green cardamom 
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tsp shahi jeera 
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1-star anise 
  • 4 cup of water
  • Salt as needed 
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Garnish 

  • 1 cup chopped Coriander and mint leaves 
  • 1/2 cup fried onions 
  • 1 tbsp saffron milk and red color mixed in water
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp garam masala

Method of preparation

  • Combine all the chicken tikka ingredients and marinate it and keep it in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.


  • Preheat the oven and keep it ready for the grill.
  • Now take the marinated chicken pieces and insert them to the skewers as shown in the picture. Then place them over a baking tray or grill. Make sure to leave space between the tikkas then only it will cook evenly.
  • Reserve the leftover marinade for biryani curry.
  • Now let's grill them for 15 minutes. 

  • Meanwhile, let's cook the rice for that, take a pan to add water, salt, oil, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, shahi jeera, cloves and mix it well.
  • Once the water gets boiled add the Basmati Rice which we have soaked in water.
  • Before adding the rice drain the water and then add the rice.

  • Now cook in high flame for 15 minutes. Now our rice is cooked 80 %. Now let's drain this water and masala.
                              
  • Let's prepare our biryani curry for that, heat a pan and add oil, cloves, peppercorns, ginger garlic paste and saute it until the raw smell goes.
  • Now add sliced onions, tomatoes and saute it for 10 minutes or until onions and tomatoes becomes mushy. 
  • Now add red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt as needed and cook or saute it about 5 to 10 min.
  • Pour in the yogurt, water, and reserved tikka marinade, and mix it well with the vegetables and spices.



  • Now our Chicken tikka is ready. let us remove from the skewers and add the chicken tikka to the prepared biryani curry and mix well. 
  • Again cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Our tikka masala is ready so let's start to layer the biryani.



  • Now add the half-cooked rice in prepared Chicken tikka masala and garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves, red color and saffron-infused milk, ghee and a pinch of garam masala.
  • Now seal the biryani pot tightly with chapati dough and cook in high flame for 20 minutes and then 10 minutes in low flame.





  • Now switch off the flame and keep it rest for 10 more minutes. 
  • Open the lid and fluff the rice slightly and here comes our very easy and tasty Chicken Tikka  Biryani is Ready.

  • Serve it hot with Onion raita or any other chicken side dish and Enjoy
