How to make Coriander Chicken
Ingredients
For Chicken marinade
- 500gm boneless chicken
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 bunch coriander leaves
- 3 tbsp chopped mint leaves
- 4 green chilli
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1\4 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp curd
- 3 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- pinch of asafoetida
- 1-inch cinnamon stick
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- salt as needed
Method of instruction
- Clean the chicken and cut it into bite-size pieces.
- Take a mixer and add cleaned coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilli and make a fine paste of it.
- Transfer it in the bowl with cleaned chicken then add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, yoghurt and mix well.
- keep it aside for 2 - 3 hrs. keeping it overnight also gives you aromatic and more spicy flavour.
- After 2 hrs take it out from the refrigerator. now heat a pan and add mustard oil in it.
- Once the oil gets heat to add cumin seeds, cinnamon and finely chopped onions. saute it until onions get translucent.
- Now add the marinated chicken pieces and saute it in low flame for 10 min.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for a min.
- Add 1\2 cup water then cover and cook the chicken in low flame for about 10 - 15 min.
- Once the chicken cooked tender add lemon juice and mix well.
- Check for salt if needed then add it.
- If you want in a gravy consistency add water and add some fresh cream to it. you will and a thick gravy type coriander chicken.
- I have done a dry version of coriander chicken so didn't add water or cream.
- Transfer it in a serving bowl and garnish with grated cheese and serve hot with roti, naan or rice.
