Hyderabadi Mutton Dum Biryani Recipe

Hello foodies, 
Today I am going to share you a very simple and tasty Hyderabadi Style Mutton Dum Biryani Recipe. This recipe is made with some marinated Mutton and basmati Rice. Let's see how to make it. 

How to make Hyderabadi Mutton Dum Biryani 

Ingredients

For Mutton Marination 

  • 500 gm Mutton with bones 
  • 1 cup fried onions 
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 3 tbsp oil 
  • 4 green chilli chopped 
  • 1 cup chopped Coriander and mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste 
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • Salt as needed 

For Rice

  • 2 cup basmati rice ( soaked for 30 minutes in water)
  • 3 green cardamom 
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tsp shahi jeera 
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1-star anise 
  • 4 cup of water
  • Salt as needed 
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Garnish 

  • 1 cup chopped Coriander and mint leaves 
  • 1/2 cup fried onions 
  • 1 tbsp saffron milk and red colour mixed in water
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp garam masala

Method of preparation 

  • Firstly let's start by Marinating mutton, for that take bowl and add cleaned mutton pieces with bones. 
  • Now add all ingredients listed below the Mutton Marination and keep it aside for 3 hours. 
  • Now take a pan and add the marinated Mutton pieces and cover cook for 35 to 45 minutes or until the mutton tenders.
  • Now our mutton is cooked well. It's in a semi gravy type.
  • Meanwhile, let's cook the rice for that, take a pan to add water, salt, oil, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, shahi jeera, cloves and mix it well.
  • Once the water gets boiled add the Basmati Rice which we have soaked in water.
  • Before adding the rice drain the water and then add the rice.
  • Now cook in high flame for 15 minutes. Now our rice is cooked 80 %. Now let's drain this water and masala.
  • Now add the half-cooked rice in mutton gravy and garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves, red and saffron colour mixed in milk, ghee and a pinch of garam masala.
  • Now seal the biryani pot tightly with chapati dough and cook in high flame for 20 minutes and then 10 minutes in low flame.
  • Now switch off the flame and keep it rest for 10 more minutes. 
  • Open the lid and fluff the rice slightly and here comes our very easy and tasty Hyderabadi Style Mutton Dum Biryani is Ready.
  • Serve it hot with Raita, mutton roast.
