Mutton Haleem Recipe | How to make Mutton Haleem

Hello foodies, 

Today I am going to show a very tasty Mutton Haleem Recipe. Mutton Haleem is made with a mix of dal, broken wheat, rice and shredded mutton. This recipe is one which is made mostly during Eid. Let's see how to make it.

How to make Mutton Haleem 


Ingredients 

For lentil mixture 

  • 1/4 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup split chickpeas 
  • 1/2 cup Toor dal 
  • 1/4 cup green gram lentils
  • 1/4 cup white lentils
  • 1 tsp turmeric 
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 cups of water

For mutton 

  • Boneless mutton 250 gms
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp of whole garam masala
  • 1 Bay leaf

For Mutton Haleem 

  • 1 onion finely sliced
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilli chopped 
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2   tsp cumin powder 
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon 🍋 juice 
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt as needed

Method of preparation 

  • First, soak all the ingredients listed below the lentils mixture for 2 hours and then cook in pressure cooker by adding salt, turmeric powder and enough water. Cook for 4 to 5 whistles.
  • Now the lentils are cooked grind them and keep it aside.
  • Now heat another pan add all the ingredients listed below mutton and cook until it cooked tender.
  • Once it cooked to make the mutton into shredded form and keep the mutton broth aside because we will use it later.
  • Now, let's start to make the mutton haleem, for that heat a pan add oil, sliced onions, green chilli, cumin seeds, ginger garlic paste and saute it until translucent. 
  • Now add the shredded mutton and mix well.
  • Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder, Coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt and mix well.
  • Now add the lentil mixture and mix well.
  • Add the mutton broth and cook in low flame for 10 minutes. 
  • Now add lemon juice and mix well.
  • Finally, garnish with julienne ginger and fried onions and serve it hot.
