How to make Dal Kachori Recipe

Ingredients

For kachori

  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • 1tsp chilli powder
  • 1 small piece ginger
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ¾ tsp fennel powder
  • ¼ tsp  cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp dry mango powder 
  • 1 tsp garam Masala 
  • a pinch of Hing
  • salt to taste

For dough

  • 1 cup Maida 
  • 1 tbsp semolina 
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • pinch of soda optional
  • water to knead to the dough
  • oil for deep frying

Method of preparation

  • First, soak moong dal in water for30 min.
  • Meanwhile let's prepare the dough for Kachori for that, in a large mixing bowl add 1 cup of maida, rava and oil and salt to taste.
  • Mix the flour well with oil.
  • In addition, add water little by little and knead to form a dough and cover them for 15 mins with a wet cloth.



  • Now coarsely grind the dal with a piece of ginger and keep aside.

  • Now heat a pan add 1 tbsp oil and chopped chilli, moong dal mixture.
  • Mix it well and cook in low flame else it well burnt easily.
  • Now add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam Masala, dry mango powder, coriander powder, fennel powder, cumin powder and a pinch of Hing,  mix well.



  • Cook in low flame until the mixture gets dry enough.
  • Now the dal mixture is ready.
  • Now pinch a small lemon sized ball and flatten it.
  • Add 1 tsp of prepared moong dal stuffing.
  • Bring the edges together and form a bundle.


  • Now gently press the edges and flatten.

  • Now deep fry kachoris and press with the spoon to puff up.
