How to make Fish Biryani
Ingredients
For Fish Marinate
- Seer fish 1/2 kg
- 1 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
For Biryani Masala
- 2 tbsp grated coconut / 2 big coconut pieces
- 4 dry red chilli
- 2 green chilli
- 1 small piece ginger
- 4 garlic pods
For Biryani
- 1 cup biryani rice (soaked)
- 3 onions finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes finely chopped
- 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander and mint leaf
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 green cardamom
- 1 black cardamom
- 1 small piece cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp shahi jeera
- 4 cloves
- 1 star anise
- 2 bay leaf
- 2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp ghee + 1 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Method of preparation
- Take a bowl add cleaned seer fish, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt. Mix well and keep it aside for 1 hr.
- Take blender and add coconut, red chilli, green chilli, ginger and garlic. Now grind them well and make a thick paste by adding little water.
- Now heat a pressure cooker add ghee and oil. Once it gets heat add cardamom, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, star anise, cloves, shahi jeera.
- Now add chopped onions and saute until caramelized.
- Now add the grinded coconut masala and saute it for 5 min.
- Add tomatoes and saute until it gets mushy.
- In this add chopped mint and cilantro and mix well.
- Its time to add the marinated fish pieces.
- Mix it gently. Don't mix to much else fish gets breaks easily.
- Now add coconut milk and check for salt.
- If needed add in this stage .
- Add soaked Biryani rice and mix it gently.
- Now close the pressure cooker and cook for 5 min without keeping whistle, in medium flame.
- After 5 min put whistle and cook for again 5 min.
- Now switch off the flame and open the cooker once pressure releases.
