Chana dal is high in fiber and helps to lower cholesterol.It also has a very low hypoglycemic index, which is important for those with diabetes.Chana dal is a helpful source of zinc, folate, calcium and protein.It is low in fat and most of it is polyunsaturated.Chana dal is extremely delicious in taste, full of nutritious and can be digested easily.
Ingredients
- Channa dal / Bengal gram /Kadalai paruppu -1/2 cup + 1 tbsp
- fennel seeds /Sombu - 1 tsp
- Onion- 1 very finely chopped
- Green chillies -1-2 finely chopped
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves - few finely chopped
- Salt as required
- Asafeotide 1/4 tsp
- Oil for deep frying
Method of preparation
- Soak Channa dal (kadalai paruppu) in water for 2 hours.
- Add channa dal and grind without adding water coarsely.
- Then add finely chopped onions, soaked and finely chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves , few curry leaves to the above mix well.
- Add salt as required and asafoetida
- Take a small ball of the mix, flatten it with your hands and put it into the oil.
- Fry it until it comes to a golden texture
Tasty and crispy masala vadai is ready now . enjoy this snack with hot tea/ coffee.
