How to make Chetinadu Chicken Curry
Ingredients
- Chicken 1/2 kg
- 2 Onions sliced thinly
- 2 Tomatoes cubed
- 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- Curry Leaves a handful
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves finely chopped
For Chettinad Masala
- 2 tbsp Coriander Seeds
- 6 Dry Red Chilli
- 2 tsp Fennel Seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 2tsp Peppercorns
- 3 Cardamom Pods
- 1 Star Anise
- 4 Cloves
- 1/2 cup grated Fresh Coconut
Method of preparation
- Add salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice to chicken and mix well. Let it marinate for 30 mins.
- Now Make the Chettinad masala. so for that Dry roast all the spices except coconut in a pan till it turns golden. once it did add coconut and roast till the coconut turns light golden colour. Remove them from the stove and grind them to a smooth paste by adding little water(1/4 cup).
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add in onions and saute until it cooks well.
- Add curry leaves and ginger garlic paste. Saute for a min.
- Add marinated chicken and mix well. Add tomatoes and mix well. Cover the cooker and cook for 1 whistle, let it simmer for 10 more mins. Switch off the stove.
- Open the cooker and pour the chicken into a pan. Add more water if needed.
- Add the ground masala and mix well.Cover and cook for 10 mins on medium flame.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
Tasty Chettinad Chicken is ready now serve hot with steamed rice.
