Today am gonna show tasty and spicy Hyderabadi Prawn Biryani. let's see how to make it.

How to make Hyderabadi Prawn Biryani

Ingredients

For Masala

  • 1 tbsp shahi jeera
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 2 cinnamon stick

For marination

  • 500 gm prawn
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup curd ( 300 gm )
  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • salt as needed
  • 2 onions thinly sliced and deep fried ( we need some fried onions for marination and for biryani) 
  • 2 tbsp biryani masala powder
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 green chilli chopped

For biryani Rice

  • 2 cup basmati rice
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves
  • salt as needed
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 cinnamon stick, 1-star anise, 4 cloves, 2 cardamoms, 2 bay leaf

For Garnish

  • some fried onions
  • 1/4 cup of mint leaves
  • food colour ( optional )
  • 2 tbsp ghee

Method of preparation

  • Dry roast the shahi jeera, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cardamom and make a fine powder of it. keep it aside.

  • Take sliced onions and deep fry it. so fried onions are ready.
  • Take a pan add water, oil, mint leaves, salt, all spices listed above.
  • When the water boils add the soaked basmati rice. Half cook the rice and drain it. keep it aside.
  • Take a mixing bowl add all the items listed in marination and keep aside for 2 hrs.

  • Take a thick bottomed vessel and grease it with some ghee and add the marinated prawn.


  • Spread it using a spatula and add the boiled rice on top of it sprinkle some fried onions, mint leaves, food colour, ghee a few drops and cover cook on medium flame for about 10 min. 



  • After 10min cook for 10 more min on low flame. make sure that the vessel closed well. 
  • Here I used a pressure cooker and used it without a whistle.
  • After 10 min. don't open it immediately. let it be there for 5 to 10 min.

Tasty and spicy Hyderabadi Prawn Biryani is ready now. Best with some onion raita.
