Chettinad Style Naatu Kozhi Biryani | Country Chicken Biryani Recipe

Today am here to share you one of my favourite biryani which is Natu Kozhi | Country Chicken Biryani Recipe. Let's see how to make it.

How to make Naatu Kozhi Biryani

Ingredients

For chicken marinade

  • 1/2 kg Naatu Kozhi ( country chicken)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt 
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

For biryani Masala

  • 1 big tomato
  • A handful of mint and coriander leaves
  • 1 small piece ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tsp lemon juice 
  • 1/2 cup curd

For biryani

  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 2 cup soaked basmati rice
  • 3 cup water + 1/2 cup
  • 2 onions finely sliced
  • 2 tomatoes finely sliced
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala 
  • 3 green cardamom
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Method of preparation

  • First, let's start with chicken marinating for that take bowl add all listed below chicken marinade and keep aside for 30 min.
  • Take a blender and add all the ingredients listed below biryani masala and make a fine paste. Keep it aside.
  • Heat a pressure cooker add ghee, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, bay leaf.
  • Add chopped onions and tomatoes and saute it until tomatoes get mushy.

  • Now add chickens and masala paste and mix well.
  • Check for salt and if you needed to add it. And red chilli powder, garam masala and 1/2 cup water.

  • Cover and cook for 15 - 20 min.
  • Now the chicken is half cooked add the soaked basmati rice and 3 cup water.
  • Cook for 3 whistles.
  • Serve hot with onion raita, boiled eggs.
