Mughlai Chicken Korma

How to make Mughlai chicken korma

Ingredients

For onion paste

  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 6 almonds 
  • 6 cashew nuts
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

For korma

  • 500gm chicken 
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 cardamom 
  • 1 cinnamon stick 
  • 1-star anise 
  • 2 bay leaf 
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds 
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste 
  • 2 tomato finely chopped 
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped 
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala 
  • 1 tsp crushed Kasuri methi 
  • 1 tbsp fresh cream 
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1/4 cup curd
  • 1 cup of water
  • Salt as needed 

Method of preparation

  • Firstly let's start with cleaning the chicken pieces and keep it aside.

  • Now take a blender to add fried onions, almonds, cashew nuts and poppy seed and make a fine paste of it.

  • Heat a pan add oil or ghee then add all the spices listed above.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and saute it until raw smell goes.
  • Now add the chicken pieces and mix well and keep the flame in medium.



  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and green chilli.
  • Now turmeric powder red chilli powder Suman powder coriander powder and salt as needed mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes add 1/4 cup of curd and one cup of water and mix it well.



  • Let it cook for another two minutes after 2 minutes add onion paste and mix well.
  • Now let it cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until chicken pieces cooked well.
  • Now the chicken pieces are cooked very well so let's add garam masala and fresh cream. Mix well and cook for 2 more minutes.


  • And here the chicken korma is ready to garnish it with crushed Kasuri methi.
