Mutton Vindaloo Recipe

Today I am going to share with you a very spicy and tasty Goan Mutton recipe. Mutton Vindaloo is made by Marinating the mutton pieces with spices soaked in vinegar and then it is slow-cooked. Let's see how to make it.

How to make Mutton Vindaloo Recipe 


Ingredients 

  • Mutton pieces 500gms (small cubes)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp peppercorns 
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 4 cloves
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick 
  • 10 dried red chilli
  • 2 small pieces of ginger 
  • 2 garlic pods
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp vinegar 
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt as needed
  • 2 cups water

Method of preparation 

  • Heat pan adds 2 tbsp oil, dried red chilli, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger, garlic and roast it pretty well.
  • Now add half of the chopped onions and save the rest for later.
  • Now cook until the onion gets caramelised. 
  • Once it is done, switch off the flame and keep it aside.
  • Now blend them together by adding little water and make a fine paste of it.
  • Now add vinegar and salt to the paste.
  • Add this paste to the cleaned and washed mutton pieces and mix well.
  • Now keep these marinated Mutton pieces aside for 5 hours or overnight. 
  • Heat a pan add 2 tbsp oil, chopped onions and saute it.
  • Now add the marinated Mutton pieces and mix well.
  • Check for salt if needed add them. 
  • Now add 2 cups of water and cover cook in low flame for about 2 hours. 
  • Do not pressure cook it you will not exact tangy flavour. 
  • Now keep cooking until it becomes really thick and dry consistency. 
  • Now our Mutton Vindaloo is ready.
  • Serve it hot with rice or Roti.
