Today I am going to show you Semolina/Sooji/Rava idly recipe.

How to make Rava idly

Ingredients

  • Rava/Sooji/semolina - 1 cup
  • Curd- 1/2 cup
  • Eno fruit salt- 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger(chopped very fine )- 1 tsp
  • green chillies(chopped very fine) - 4 nos 
  • curry and coriander leaves - 1 tbsp 
  • Water - 1 cup (adjust to  consistency)

For temper

  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal (Ullutham paruppu) - 1 tsp
  • Channa dal (Kadala paruppu) - 1 tsp
  • Cashews - 1 tsp 
  • ghee - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As needed

Method of preparation

  • Heat a pan and add ghee ,splutter mustard and add the all items under temper.
  • Add the finely chopped ginger and chillies.
  • Add the sooji and fry in a low flame  ( Color shouldn't change)
  • Transfer to a bowl,  add curd, water,lemon juice,salt mix well.(the consistency should be like idly batter)
  • Add chopped curry leaves and coriender leaves

  • Heat the idly cooker and grease with oil
  • At this stage add eno to the batter 
  • pour the batter in cooker and cook for 10 min ( make a tooth pic test ,if it comes out clean idly is ready)



yummy and soft Rava idly ready . Best with  Mint chutney , Coconut chutney , Tomato chutney or sambar
